Buying a drone is a big decision. Not only does it require some skill to operate, but it necessitates a big capital expense
Does the supplier offer an after-sales service? What if there is a breakage? Will the necessary parts be in stock? At AgTech@NWK, farmers and contractors can rest assured that they have arrived at a one-stop destination for all their drone needs. Not only can you purchase a variety of DJI drones and accompanying accessories at competitive prices, but you will be trained by one of the country’s best drone operators in their operation and maintenance, and have it repaired by qualified technicians when required.
AgTech@NWK holds up to 30% of the drone market
NWK is the oldest agricultural company in the country and boasts 117 years’ experience. AgTech@NWK consists of agronomists, soil and drone experts.
Since introducing the latter component to its product and service offering in 2022, the drone division has gone from strength to strength and now sells 30% of all agricultural drones in the country. It stocks the DJI Agras T100, T70 and Matrice 4 security drones and accessories. Having attracted customers from all over the country, AgTech@NWK has since opened offices in Bothaville, Brits and Upington, with more outlets to be opened later this year. Customers do not have to travel all the way to the head office in Lichtenburg to have their drones serviced and repaired, as qualified technicians have also been appointed at the other outlets.
All customers undergo a full day’s training in the operation and maintenance of the drone they purchase, free of charge.
Choose the right drone for your operation
The T100 is the Rolls Royce of the DJI Agras range and was launched at AgTech@NWK in Lichtenburg on 25 September 2025.
Since then, AgTech@NWK has sold 104 units of the T100, which has increased in popularity after heavy rains left many farmers unable to reach their crops by tractor.
The T100 has a 100 L tank and dual atomizing centrifugal sprinklers that enable faster flight speeds, wider spray coverage and higher operational efficiency for large-scale field applications.
Some of its amazing specs include:
The ability to spray 30 L per minute with two sprinklers, or 40 L per minute with four sprinklers. It almost doubles the capacity of its predecessor, the DJI T50, which could spray about 22 L per minute.
The high-capacity batteries has been redesigned and can be charged to 95% capacity within only nine minutes with DJI’s smart charge system. This speeds up operation even more.
It is also equipped with a 150 L spread tank that can spread up to 400 kg per minute.
Apart from spraying and spreading, the DJI T100 can lift and move objects as heavy as 100 kg.
The LiDAR camera, as well as five wide-angle cameras that work together with a sophisticated radar system, gives the pilot a 360-degree view of the area.
Navigation accuracy is superb thanks to real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning. This makes repeated flight routes possible and prevents missed applications or unnecessary re-applications, leading to a saving of the product being applied.
Double barometers, compasses and back-up communication systems enable the drone to fly back to base by itself, should something go wrong.
Drones are mostly used at night when the wind is calm, evaporation is less and uptake of fertiliser is therefore optimal. Since the LiDAR camera and cameras don’t have to rely on visible light, it’s not a problem!
The T70 is the baby brother of the T100, with a tank capacity of 70 L.
Farmers should seriously consider the Matrice 4 series to combat stock and cable theft on farms, thanks to its infrared thermal camera that can detect humans hiding in fields.
A uniquely designed trailer for drone transportation
Okkie Vermeulen, DJI sales representative at AgTech@NWK, has collaborated with Nic Keyser of NIC Trailers to design and build a unique trailer that can easily transport and store DJI drones and accessories.
It is fitted with a 1 000 L tank in which chemicals can be mixed. With the insights of a hydraulic engineer, the tank and funnel have been designed to form a vortex in order to avoid the precipitation of heavy elements often found in pre-emergence poisons.
Other unique characteristics of the trailer include:
A simple pipe with a spiral inside makes the contents spin around, preventing foam from forming when it reaches the pump.
About 500 litres’ of herbicide or pesticide is mixed at a time to limit waste, should the wind pick up or rain fall. It is later filtered back through the system.
The tank is fitted with a frame on top, enabling the operator to stand on it safely and with ease while mixing the chemicals.
