Eggs aren't just delicious. They're also extremely nutritious, an excellent source of protein and provide essential nutrients. They’re outstanding value for money when one considers the powerhouse of nutrition to be derived out of one single egg compared with many other protein sources.

This is exactly why Elanco Animal Health South Africa, Immuno-Vet Services and a host of egg producers came together to provide some 15 000 eggs to the Foodbank SA as part of its Global Day of Service initiative.

Eggspert Eggs, TopLay Country Eggs, Nulaid and Mabron Farming Enterprises generously donated almost 15 000 eggs to FoodBank SA, while Elanco colleagues spent the day on 29 Sep at the FoodBank’s Germiston depot to help prepare and pack the food parcels which get distributed to some 42 000 needy people every day from 169 FoodBank depots.

“For our Global Day or Service, we wanted to draw attention to the issue of hunger, and the importance of ensuring that nutritious food is accessible and affordable to all. Hunger is very real to many South Africans - in fact 14 million South Africans wakeup each day not knowing where their next meal is coming from – that is 25% of our population. By bringing in our customer partners as well as our own Elanco colleagues, we hope to make a small contribution to the important work being done by FoodBank SA in supporting impoverished and at-risk communities.  Hunger is right on our doorstep and we are especially grateful to Eggspert,
