Leading supplier Bearings International (BI) has appointed Rudi Rudolph as Segment Leader – Manufacturing. His main focus will be Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and the steel industry.

With six years’ experience at BI, Rudolph began his career as a Sales Representative at Wadeville, progressing to be in charge of key OEM clients at the Parkhaven head office three years ago. He reports directly to BI Manager Shenton Botes.

Rudolph forms part of the larger BDL team structure established by BI, with a dedicated and focused approach to core market segments. These segments are Mining, Agriculture, Sugar, OEMs, Steel, FMCG, Automotive, Services and Infrastructure, and Wholesale and Retail.

“My main role is to assist our extensive branch network in whatever way possible, as well as to look for new business, especially in ancillary manufacturing related to the mining industry, for example. Here and in the steel industry we aim to expand our market share and increase our product linkages, including maximising opportunities in Southern Africa,” Rudolph explains, who has 16 years’ industry experience.

“BI has such a vast range of products that it is important to position ourselves as a complete solutions provider for our key clients in the OEM and steel industries in particular,” Rudolph notes. The company also fulfils a critical problem-solving role in being able to offer technical advice and support.

While the OEM sector is on the uptick, particularly on the automotive side, the steel industry is also showing green shoots. “It is important that we supply cost-effective solutions that reduce downtime and increase productivity,” Rudolph stresses.

This means it is vital for BI’s 49-branch network to be properly stocked at all times, including niche products. In addition, Rudolph will ensure that BI increases its footprint in the OEM and steel industries by entering into supply contracts with key clients. Another focus is project houses, which is an ideal platform to showcase BI’s superior products and international brands, thereby boosting market share significantly.
