The leaders of Agri SA, the African Farmers' Association of South Africa, the National African Farmers Union, TAU/TLU SA, the Agricultural Business Chamber and SA Agricultural Processors Association have decided to sign a declaration of intent to co-operate as far as possible to achieve consensus on policy matters and to talk with one voice.

This group will be called the Agrisector Unity Forum.

Its main purpose is to represent agriculture from one voice and to focus on policy matters. The Agrisector Unity Forum will furthermore promote the image of agriculture as a whole and place emphasis of the importance of this sector as part of the economy.

Ms Ntombi Msimang (chairperson of the National Agricultural Marketing Council) was elected as chairperson of the Agrisector Unity Forum.
